skapunkradio.com The new home of The Ska Punk show.

Hey All,

It was a great day today.  I went with the entire fam to Parada del Sol

in Scottsdale.  I ran into my buddy Craven Moorehead,  a local radio DJ here in AZ.  It was a trip because I was just thinking about him.  He worked at The Edge 103.9 FM (X1039 FM) and it recently turned into a different format .   One of the main reasons I listened to The Edge was simply for the Ska-Punk show .  It was the closest thing to the real deal on the waves.  Jason explains in the interview below:

Anyway, turns out he’s streaming now! It’s rad!  You gotta check it out. It’s called the skapunkradio.com .  I’m not just pluggin’ either.  hahahah  He’s a real dude who gave Authority Zero our first shot.

Apart from that , life is good. Just rasin’ the little ones the best I can and trying to make the ends meet.  I hope you make it a good one!

Migrating…

Hey all,

You may have noticed that my sites have been down.  I’m currently migrating to a new server.  I also am experimenting with Yahoo Pipes

and rss feed manipulation , so it will probably ding the piss out of my SEO . If you got to the older posts on this blog you’ll see stuff I’ve aggregated from my Blogspot account .  haha Anyway,  we just had our third and final kid, Brady!  Yay!  I’m not really posting a ton of personal pics anymore, sorry, grid paranoid these days ;)

I was checking out an email sent to me from my buddies in the band Rehab

.  I’m signed up on their mailing list .  Check out this new vid from my man Demun Jones .  He’s a really down to Earth guy and talented musician:

Ight then, that’s it for now.  I will be more proactive with this blog, I promise! hahaha

UFOs and bad dreams…

What up all?

Just checkin’ in. My brother showed me some footage of a UFO that was spotted in Jerusalem. It looks real to me:

Then he suggested that I check out this Ancient Aliens show about the Nazis using ancient ancient extraterrestrial technology. It was pretty slanted and hokey but kinda spooky. It was fun to watch but was necessary to take it with a grain of salt:

Then after watching all of these vids. I watched a documentary about how the Nazi’s used the occult for propaganda and to revive a slanted version of ancient Nordic relgion:

Needless to say, after watching all of this craziness, I attempted to sleep. I had weird dreams all night of chaos and demons. Hitler truly was an evil bastard and incarnation of the Antichrist. Himmler, Hess and all the other henchmen reminded me of cold hearted demon robots. They had absolutely no regard for life and no compassion. The “Blood Laws” made it legal to euthanize and execute at will. It amazes me what people will do when they’re poor and hungry. I fear that our nation is headed down the same path.

Anyway, sorry for the dark post. These vids really messed with my head and had me battling demons in my sleep. hahahah Make it a good week and keep focused on the light and block out the dark.

Authority Zero’s “Stories of Survival” Album Review

Hey All,

So I found a copy of Authority Zero

’s new album “Stories of Survival ” and gave it a listen. Read on if you’d like to see what I thought.

Authority Zero is releasing their new album entitled Stories of Survival on June 22nd. I happened across a demo of it (don’t worry I’ve preordered and paid for a real copy) and gave it a few listens. The album consists of 11 songs being: “The New Pollution”, “A Day to Remember”, “Brick in The Wave”, “Get It Right”, “Big Bad World”, “Break The Mold”, “Crashland”, “Liberated Education”, “Movement”, “The Remedy” and “ No Way Home”. I’ll break these songs down below.

“The New Polution”: The album begins with Winston Churchill’s “Blood Sweat Tears and Toil” speech

and segues into a SoCal/Pennywise feel of a song. I dig the clarity with which Zach plays on this track. The song seems very upbeat and would be good for driving.

“A Day to Remember”: This song has Rise Against feel to it. I dig Jason’s line about “10,000 feet in the air”. It reminds me of being on all the planes back in the day though He probably was referring to snowboarding.

“Brick in the Wave

: This song has a definite Authority Zero stamp to it. It reminds me of a slowed down version of Sky’s the Limit meets Courage. It has an excellent acoustic break down reminiscent of Courage and is sprinkled with Handsonic elements via Ryan Greene . I would not be surprised to see this released as a radio single.

“Get It Right”

: I like this song because all of the players get to showcase their abilities. Jeremy gets to play his bass a la “revolution”. Zach has some sick classic rock feeling leads. Zach always had a Jefe feel to his leads, I love it. Jason experiments with the range of his voice and Jim glues it all together.

“Big Bad World”: This song is the typical chillin’ song. Cool reggae. Kind of reminds me of The Expendables, RX Bandits and Matisyahu. I love the harmonies on the track. Zach, Jeremy and Jason have a good mixture of timbres.

“Break The Mold”: This is a cool pit song. It a bit slower than Authority Zero’s previous pit songs but it’ll do the trick. The thing I loved most about this track was the cool Arabic breakdown. Ethnic music was always a key for Authority Zero’s success.

“Crashland”: Starting out with Morse Code it is Authority Zero’s anthem on the album. It reminds me of “War’s End” by Rancid meets “Taking on the World”. Some tempo changes and Zach’s leads make it a memorable song.

“Liberated Education”: Starting out with a phaser intro then breaking into a Pennywise/Rise Against feel of a song, it once again will get ya’ pumped. I love the reggae breakdown and cool harmonies on the leads. It also retains the Authority Zero stamp, bearing much resemblance to “Madman”.

“Movement”: I’m really diggin’ this track. It has a great dancehall feel and I love the call and response between guitar and vocals. The tone and nuances remind me of Homegrown’s track “Surfer Girl”. One of my favorite tracks!

“The Remedy”: This is by far my favorite track. Its tempo changes a bit. There are plenty of sticky hooks and great guitar work. The bass and drums weave in and out in unison and Jason’s voice is best suited to this type of song. A+!!

“No Way Home”: This track kicks back to an Old Skool SoCal feel. The most memorable part of the song is the bridge toward the end of the song. Jeremy throws down a bass line that brings me back to jammin’ “Dawn Patrol” by Megadeth.

Alrighty!!! That’s my take… now preorder this album or buy it on June 22nd. I highly recommend it.

Been a bit ne’?

Hola all!

Well its been awhile and the kids are finally napping so HI!  As, you can see above, I’ve won an Ipad from work.  Its really rad.  I download books to read, watch movies and the kids love it too

Speaking of work,  I’ve recently moved to a different department!  Dude! I’m raking in the dough, I love it!  Not trying to brag but its nice to be able to get out of this finnacial hole finally.  I’ve been broke for about 15 years!  hahaha.

Anyway, wifey and I got to leave the kids with the folks and head back to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico.   It was well needed and enjoyed.

As usual Rocky Point Ruled!!  We met up with our buddies Sarah, Jason and Mariana.  Check out the pics below and make sure you scroll all the way down to see my buddy Aaron’s kid’s reaction to my Ipad pic hahahaha.  That’s all for now, kinda lame and short but I need to rest before the boys are up.  Have a great week and “no dejas para mañana lo que puedes hacer hoy!”

I Headed North!

Hey All,

Its been a great week!  I landed a job with a new department!  I start Monday.  I’m wicked stoked because in theory I should make about three times what I’ve been making.  Gotta love that!

I did great this week in sales and was under a lot of presure so I headed up north to Payson, AZ

.  Its so beautiful up there.  At the risk of sounding  like a hippy, it really helped me to center my chi.
I actually got to hang with my family and relax for a day.  It was good times for sure.  The kids were pooped, they ran all day and saw all kinds of cool stuff.

On Sunday, My buddy L.J. came back from his Zebrahead

tour.  It was great to see him, espaecially because he brought me back some Jamon Serrano chips from Madrid !  He’d been in Europe, so he had a hunkering for Mexican food, so we went and chowed at Texanos .  Good stuff.

To end the week, today we celebrated my brother’s bday.  Its always great to see him smile!  Damn we’re all getting old.

So as you can see, I had a hella great week and look forward to starting my new job.  I hope you have a wonderful week and good fortune

!

Cheers… Bill
